alright folks has anyone been convicted for speeding via one of these cameras? i was traveling a familiar route were the camera was normally covered up by a black bag on this occasion it wasnt and i was passing it 100-110mph  so my driving days could be possibly numbered as people have told me the cameras are in active but the black bags off now and they have the meter counts on the road aswell a set of 2 10 meters apart just after the camera.

The only thing you can hope is that 1 in 4 fixed camera do not have film in but the only way you will know for sure is if you wait for the brown envelope- approx. 15 working days/3 weeks.

Frankly, 110 in a zone with a fixed camera (i.e high risk) is rather stupid. What is the actual speed limit in that zone?

speed cam got me and i got 6 points and £400 fine for doing 95mph in a 60mph am up to 9 points due to my gtir. so i think your waving good bye to the driving if there was a film in it.

Normally when Truvelo’s will flash, it is covered by an anti dazzle filter.

When did you speed past it, yesterday? If so drive past the camera and look into its smaller eye hole (not the large purple bit). If the eye is black then there is no lens in it, however if you can spot a small lens then its active.

Granted I can be difficult to see what to look for but if it’s black then it’ll be empty, however that’s not to say that it wasn’t in there the day you shot pasted.

What you need to do is watch the post for a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP). This must turn up within 2 weeks, if nothing come through then your in the clear, however if it does then your in the shit!

Whatever the outcome I hope you’ll think about your speed next time…

You should have contested it then, they would have thrown it out due to that it did not come through in time.

...unless what you did was extreme or some sort of technicality

All the tickets and stuff are being sent business class royal mail.. and what with all the royal mail strikes.. it may not turn up at the usual expected time. I've known tickets to take up to 6 weeks. You can fob them off saying it wasn't you, some twat took it for a test drive as you was selling it locally advertised in your window or something but then end of the day somebody gotta be held responsible which is how they will see it.. I think you'll just have to wait it out and see what happens or ring up in a week to see if they've got anything on record.. but then it all depends how regularily they collect the film from the camera.

...petrol bomb it and destroy the film? .... JOKING! lol

Definitely some bad luck though.. to drive past one day and it's not in use and then the next.. SNAP!... that's kinda crafty lol.

Only bit of advice I'll offer to anyone is always own up to any speeding related conviction, not any of this "it was my mate from Outer Space"

Bit of trivia for the rest of you, the standard speed cameras not only measure your speed but also the length of the vehicle.

when paying the fine keep sending a check which is 1p over as they will send it back, asking for the correct amountyou can do this a few times. keeps the money in your bank a bit longer

Throw an old car tyre over the top of the camrea fill with petrol. light it and run away. "Necklacing " the said camera and saving me and many other folk of Leicestershire getting caught by that same camera .

Now 100 mph is a little excessive !!!!!! . :mod:

Well if you do get caught and try and contest your innocence you've kinda just shot yourself in your foot by posting on a internet forum that you did that speed knowingly and were driving.

Good luck to you and all that jazz but if you do get a letter through the door I can see a 12 month ban on the cards im afraid.
