Removing power steering/water pump tensioner

Well, I've reinstalled the oil pump now, but as I had been in the garage for 9 hours, my sense of logic failed me, and I started tensioning the power steering belt, but I was turning the bolt the wrong direction until i broke it off. :|

So - is getting the bracket out possible at all, have anyone done this with the engine in? I just got mad and left, so I didn't check the situation too closely, I just stated that "yep, that's hard to get to".

There should be another bolt that, once you have tensioned the belt, you should tighten holding it all in place.

In a nut shell (if it makes sense) use a bar or something strong to push and tighten the belt, while holding, then tighten the holding bolt and that should do it.

If that makes no sense whatsoever then it’s because I've only had 5 hours sleep in the last 24hrs and I'm losing the will to live! :sad:

What would I do without you guys. That might actually work, at least in the short run! I'll look into that!

Well, "the short run" could prove pretty long for me as well, as it looks to be a bit of a hassle to replace the bracketry with the engine in. Maybe I'll just save that job for when I've blown my gearbox instead.

brackets not hard to get at trond think theres 3 bolts that hold it on (one being one of the waterpump bolts) you will need to remove water pump pulley to get to that one.
but if its just the long bolt thats snapped i dont think you have to remove the bracket at all

il stick another tensioner bolt in with your pads for you:)

Aren't you just a sweetheart! :love:

If you have one, throw in the "block" that the bolt screws into as well, as the rest of the bolt is lodged in there, and will probably refuse to come out!
