DIY alignment

Just wondered what people are using to set up suspension at home. Have just finished fitting a bumpsteer kit and have used string and axel stands from front to rear to get the toe as near as possible to parallel all round. Any one else use this method and how accurate did you find it? Also have adjustable camber bolts which im going to have a look at this weekend. What methods have anybody used to measure this?

if you set it all up with some care you should be able to get good results.

You're gonna have to rest the tracking once you've done the camber...

I can talk to my mates at RM motors on commonside were I'm going to get mine set up if you want? I'm sure they'll do it reasonably cheap and they have 4 wheel laser allignment and camber setting kit! A bit better than that one we have from noah!

I do mine like this mate.

Most improtantly is to get the car nice and flat first. I use kitchenfloor tiles and then put some sugar under the top tile to enable it to slide easy.

Then do any ride height changes.
Then I'll set my camber.
Then my toe.

I find my rear wheels don't usually change, so I've now got set distances from known points on the car so I can just do one side at a time.
I.E. Set the front paraellel to the rears.

All seems to work for me and has saved £'s as I can now easilly check after changing bushes, ball joints etc.

Cheers,
Ollie
