i would like to knw what anyone would recomend a good spec for my ideale engine. basicly i dont want to chase numbers but im looking at a super rapid 0-60 time. hopefully in the 4 sec bracket possibly lower.

im hopefully rebulding a engine forge rods pistons, etc, but im stuck on some parts

what cams would be best? new stock profile set?

what turbo?? gt28r or maybe a new nissan s15 rollerbeing one?

would the head benifit from a light port and polich to help spooling.

also if i carnt source a genuine rb box are the gearsets availabe still from nissan.

all i want is really rapid acceleration that all im intrested in so any help would be great

A forged engine (pistons and bearings only) with a 28RS would get you to 60 in the mid 4's easily. Even a stock head and cams with a good map would do the job (standard gearbox too), preferrably an aftermarket ECU with launch control and you're there.

You're starting to get into big money with 0-60 times as your gearbox is the weak link. You'd be investing thousands into the box (gears and casing).

what bout 3s then. im really want to push tthe 0-60 time as far as i could go
You dont need much power ;-)

I did a 3.9 0-60 at bruntingthorpe a few years back with an air filter, exhaust, fuel pump, AP clutch and 1.2 bar boost. Everything else was standard and i even had the top mount intercooler, probably 300-310 bhp tops!

that doesn't count cos you dropped the timing guy £50!

Standard engine, standard boost it really is quick enough, will "probably" stay on the road and be used more often too

Ohh and if all you want to do is go in a straight line quickly, your using the wrong car!

Go and buy a supra or something else.

As others have said, your box is going to be the weak link if your going to be launching all the time and running big power.

Only bit of advice I have to add, is to lower the stress on the box and achieve better 0-60's, get the car as light as possible, remove all the interior, run lighweight wheels, a carbon boot and bonnet if possible and lighten anything else you can think of.

Why do you want the car to be super fast accelerating, is it just going to be a quarter mile slag or is it still going to be used for the road?

i donnt want an atom, supra or rs200. i dont want a bike either or id of got 1.

im not intrested in power figures so what it makes it makes, n no i dont want a screemer pipe.

the gtir is my fave car, end of and im lucky enough to own one. i just want to make a 0 to 60 time in the 3 second bracket. i wont be doing this at every set off lights or at your loacl macds.

plus i think the next thing im going to be looking into is sprint series. toyata have a good series as do subaru.

people like to ask on setups for 500bhp id just like info on how to make a 0-60 time in the 3 second area

A 1bar R with an RB box, some weight saving and heroic driving skills or a >500hp car will get you below 4s according to this thread :)

No mechanical sympathy in a >500hp car will get you closer to 3s but I expect the closer you get the more like 600hp you'd need. At that point the more transmissions you keep destroying.

It all depends on what your are thinking of as a 3s bracket.

Is it worth asking DD Autosports to build the car for you if you really want a fast accelerating car? - They are the tuners behind what is currently the fastest car over the 1/4 mile in the UK (Craige101's car). - Search youtube for something like "TOTB GTi-R".
That's definitely stripped-out and I think it has perspex windows too... but I have no idea what the 0-60 time is. I think there are no (or maybe just the front) ARBs, so the handling is a little compromised when if you try to do anything other than go in a straight line. However, straight line speed is what it was built for, and that's what it gives.

I can't help but feel if you're just chasing acceleration like that, then this isn't a road car. I've got an RB box and run a bar of boost, maybe I'm allready a red-light hero!?

EDIT: That doesn't mean you can't build it yourself, or that nobody else could do it... just that Dave seems to know what he's doing and currently has the evidence to prove it.

If you are wanting to sprint then your priorities are very wrong.

Get the car light, get it stopping well, look into a front slippy diff, R rated tyres, roll cage, FIA spec seat and harness. Then once you have a car which works investigate ways to increase performance and keep reliability, i'd start with a quaife or some other gearkit.

If you are paying to compete, what you dont want is a car that is unreliable ... so imho reliabilty is key otherwise you are never going to win anything. To use this years F1 season as an example; had Redbull been more reliable they might very well have been champions this season! With the exception of Spa where he was punted off, Jensen scored in every round of the calendar!

Just some food for thought.
