Mines broke twice in 3 1/2 years and that was clutch failure; due to buying a crappy excedy organic clutch :doh: and and alternator bolt sheared off. As already said depends on the history of the car. I dont know the history of mine as was the first owner in the uk. Good luck finding one though.

i would say running costs are probably no different to a scooby but if you pick up an r whats been mistreated u will definatly end up with a can of worms and more than likely end up rebuilding it at some point get a good one and as above u shouldn't really get many problems.
as for the gearbox avoid doin 6k+ clutch dumps and u shudnt really have a problem

Thats what ive done with my 3rd one, standard boost was my main concern it had to have at least i know what mods and how they were fitted to my R as all done by myself bar the tannbe suspension and goose system but at the time it was as close to stanard as could find
It’s a bit of a lottery out there with these cars, but let’s make it simple:
If you abuse it a lot, then the repair/fuel bills will come thick and fast.
If you drive it with respect and look after with using quality parts then it'll last much longer and you won't be in the garage as often. :thumb:

Really tho mate it is just a lucky dip and tbh its down to how you look after it and how you drive it..

If it makes you feel any better, my radiator has just gone. It did have the courtesy to wait until I had returned from my journey and was parked on the drive.:lol:

Admittedly i am now repairing mine after damging a fuel line- my fault :doh: never try and fix whats not broken. So now my car is off the road im treating it to a new exhaust sytem, brakes and tyres and of course a service.
Just hope my numbers come up this weekray2:

Its not that they are unreliable its down to us!!
Something happens like a fooked fuel line ect and we take it off the road and before you know it you end up buying other things such as exhaust,brakes,turbos and there is always something else you need/want before you put it back on the road;-)
This is one good reason why there is only afew of these cars on the road.

You will hear good stories and horror stories it's like this basically,if you get a good one it's fantastic,if you get a bad one look out but saying that it also depends on how you treat them!
