iv fitted a s/s manifold and uprated standard tubby, my problem is the turbo to tmic pipe fouls on the s/s mani leaving around a 4mm gap where the gasket and 3 screws secure it,

iv tried niggling away at it with an angle grinder but i went to close to the bend and removed to much  only the tiniest of holes but its usless now,

has anyone over come this with a thicker gasket or spacer, or was i right to niggle away at it with a grinder, but just stay away from the bend  seems like alot to remove though

any advice would be much appreciated:thumbsup:

Surely any metal fabricator can knock up a 4mm spacer plate? All you need to do is trace the end of the up pipe so they've got the right size, should be a cheap job too mate.

I wouldn't have said grinding it was a great idea (as you've found out the hard way), but I'm sure you won't have any trouble with a spacer.

just sent you pm dan, you need to turn the outer housing so that it doesnt fowl on the manifold!

Currently i have a Janspeed manifold with standard turbo and a TMIC. I did not have any problem fitting it. Are you sure you are doing it the right way ?

lol how fookin stupid do you think i am......NO WAIT dont answer that8)

it just catches on the branch to the 3rd cylinder ,im gonna butcher the fooked pipe ,and make a spacer only needs to be a few mil plus 2 gaskets to clear , i dont fancy rotating the tubby housing im bound to destroy a perfectly good tubby:evil:

yer like I did :(

yer I had this problem with my ss mani, on mine the second and third come out slightly more like two horns so when as you said you meet the pipe it does not quite alow for them to meet together

Rotating the tubby isn't rocket science. You just need to untighten some nuts on the side and slowly rotate it.

thats some pics and info on what happened

http://www.gtiroc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58453

if you have a read, it looks as if when we moved the compressor housing to prevent exactly what problem your having it was not put back exacly right and it destroyed itself, everything else seemed fine, oil water feed and when taken off wasnt any sign of been blocked,

not saying that it will always happen but my shoddy luck it did

if bob can give you some pointer on doing it right though would be easier
