Im looking for a new Project R and came across this on Piston heads.
I tried txting the fella but had no reply. is he/car known on here?

Well Spikey, if it’s a Norris Designs engine I'd ask the seller to provide documentation about the engine the form of an invoice bill(s) and then ring Norris Designs to collaborate the information before you go any further (reference numbers etc).

After recent information regarding forged documents it's worth doing a bit of research before you buy.

As for a project it depends on how much you've got to spend on it. With its current spec you will NOT see 400bhp

Roller Bearing ND Super Hybrid GTI-R Turbo (gti-002504)

It has a large compressor cover, profiled cover, modified turbine wheel and special turbine housing. It will supply air for up to 370HP with low lag.

However if you are keen to put some hard work into it to get it working then I say go for it.

My only reservations are that it’s a little too cheap for what it is and I'd be careful to cross-reference every bit of work done to the car. It sounds like a great spec, but it also could be a load of lies.

If he's not playing ball or giving you all the relevant information / vague then I'd be inclined to walk away

ND are pretty good about that, you can probably get them to confirm the work they did from just the rego; obviously if the engine has been transplanted it's harder, but they will have stamped the block so it can still be traced. - That's entirely possible because if you'd spent £4000 with Mr Norris on an engine and clutch etc, why would you not have the ND intercooler too (which are quite good)?

I'd guess that he doesn't really want to sell it, but can't justify the cost of a new turbo... and now it's been sitting too long and doesn't want to start. Perhaps he has now lost interest in it, but I'd want to see it start and listen to the engine to be sure it is the turbo that's let go and not a piston (or ring).

If you looked at it as the purchase of a forged engine with a free rolling shell, then it's probably quite a good deal and you could go on to build a good car from it... but I'm guessing that if you don't want to put much work into it, this isn't the car for you.

I dont mind putting some hard work in it as i would wanna strip it cage it and so some body changes. I just thought with a decent engine i would be half way there. Most ppl buy a R treat it badly then sell it so we end up with ruined cars which is sad as they have so much potential if treated right.

That could be your problem ;-) Why not try ringing him instead of texting, whenever i've been selling a car i always ignore text messages as 90% of the time they're either from timewasters or idiots :lol:

Its not exactly hard to string a few sentences together is it :doh:

Sounds like a very good deal, maybe 2 good in my opinion, if you were to spend that much on parts etc why sell so cheap? If it is genuine then its a bargain

it's cos the intercoolers are about a grand!!!:shock:
