does anyone on here know how much it would cost to bring in a car from france (on french plates) to uk, if under a certain value.....say £500 would i need to pay customs excise duty on it?

also costs of sva test etc please?

you should not pay any duty tax on purchases from within the EU states.

cheers ev i thought that was the case but wasnt sure.
so is it merely a case of importing (collecting myself) then drive straight into uk then sva test the vehicle?

If the car is over 10 years old it dosnt need SVA.

to be honest with you i think it is as simple as getting an mot on it then handing in the french paperwork for an english log book.

the way it works the other way round ( car from eng to france) get an mot go and see if u need to pay tax but most of the time u dont need to as eastwood said depends on age .

then get a certificate of conformity (might note be necessary i dont know) then its all done in theory.
