What have you done with them? - I'm not sure there's anything that special about them; I don't know what the thread is, but they are 32mm and a right pain to get any torque on.

I just meant that as it's on the end of the drive shaft it's hard not to turn the whole lot. - I put the wheel back on and dropped it off the jack... and proceeded to roll the car backwards as I tried to get it tight.

I normally nip it up as much as I can in the air then put it on the ground and finish it off. With the handbrake on it's never moved the car. You'll struggle to do it all in the air as like you say, it'll want to turn the whole lot unless you have someone sat on the brakes.

The manual says to have someone with their foot on the brakes... but I couldn't convince my wife to help. ;-)

You mean the big one on in the centre of the wheel (if you take the centre cap out)?

That's the driveshaft nut that everyone and we thought you were talking about anyway:?

I think he means the crown cap that holds the nut still when you put the split pin through the shaft. - Again, there's nothing especially fancy about them as long as they fit a 32mm nut.

You could probably replace the hub nut with a castle one and use that with the split pin instead of the crown cap.
