That is true, but it's an initial investment worth making in my opinion. If you're tuning the car yourself, then all subsequent re-maps are free and you can take your time to find the right setup. Plus it acts as a datalogger as well if you ever take your car to the track ;-)

I agree with that Red Reading chappie, Nistune is great value for money. Alternatively, buy a 2nd hand Apexi avc-r boost controller and safc fuel controller for around 350, add a z32 and you've got some good features and easy mapping with the cost just slightly higher than taking the family to the cinema ;)

Change as little as possible would be my advice, the most reliable cars have the least done to them.

If you are looking at >350hp then as others have said you need to consider oil coolers, intercoolers, intake pipework, exhausts etc etc.

Fit a wideband lambda, a boost guage and a dawes device, 1.2Bar should see you past 300hp.

Before thinking about a bigger turbo look at changing your turbo elbow too that will help spool and mid range.

For turbo choice, also consider a GT2860 that will give more real world performance more of the time.

Just throwing a few alternatives out there.

That's why I was asking if 350bhp is some kind of mythical number. Plenty reliable (and drivable) if you're not worried what the real number is.

I was running 330bhp on mine for around 3 hard years and was fine, had a mines ecu, safc and avcr, (350bhp)for a extra 20 bhp it aint worth it.

If your getting a new turbo, z32, injectors etc why not go for 400?

I ran mine at 399 bhp on the standard engine for just over 2 years before the ring lands started to give up the ghost, So you should be fine as long as you have a healthy engine, The one thing I will advise is that you fit a proper 13 or 16 row front mounted oil cooler, Because in my experience keeping a pulsar engine together requires very good cooling, So maybe fit an up rated rad as well and you should enjoy many trouble free miles, Get the foundations right my friend!

Great advice. i couldnt agree more. The car already has a top mounted oil cooler in place of the intercooler. where would i get an uprated Radiator from?

ask bob he might have a rad. ed managed 333bhp out of my old R at just 1.1bar and it made 343 at 1.1 but had to turn it down as fuel pump or something was letting the fueling down. i did have a z32 and evo injectors, you dont need them for 330 but maybe 350. engines sfe at that power, go to ed and have nistune. also he did my 480bhp R and fueling, driveability is spot on

Can anyone advise me on the updated radiators on eBay? Are they any good? How easy to fit are they? Are they as good as uk spec?

refit your oil cooler in the rad area at the front of the car, it'll look better and work better..... and don't route the cooler hoses around the right side of the engine:doh:

I'd go with Nistune, you''ll get much better power/ economy/ drivability once setup than just using the std ecu.

You can buy a koyo for the price of a uk spec radiator from Nissan, i had to buy one the other day as 18 years of salty british roads had killed my original radiator.
