yes they did and uk sunny gtirs need them for the mot test
Seconded. - In the UK (I don't know about France) you can get away with it because it's a grey import and not built to Euopean specs, but as Danny says the Sunny came with one so requires it... unless you've got a very friendly tester who accidentally misses that it's a Sunny and gives you the same emissions test as the Pulsar?

i thought it was only cars made after the 1st of August 1992 that needed to pass a emission test
It is but most of the uk cars are K and L reg so as K starts in August 1992 they need to pass the emissions for cars with cats, there are a few J reg uk cars around too though ;-)

For cars made before August 1992 theres a far less strict emissions test, upto 3.5% CO i think.

Did they all have one from new? Yes, if they were road-legal cars they had a catalytic converter installed.

Whether you need to keep it is a different matter.

just because there is a bulge in the floor does'nt mean it needs it for the mot. bit like rocker cover washers.....lol
No but te Bulge in the floor proves that the car was designed with a Cat Converter so yes they All came with one from Factory. And if it did come with one or not, that is what he will have to prove.

A mate of mine bought a Impreza P1 to Switzerland and cause he could not prove that the rear big wing was factory it had to come off for the Mot.

There was one on Ebay not so long ago.
that was me, bought it off Bob as new for £100 last month (I was happy with price I would add) decided not to fit it, sold it for £40 on ebay but in a moment of madness agreed to post it to Dublin which cost £20 in postage against the fiver I charged - what's that about a fool and his money !

all of which is irrelevant in France where modifying cars is not legal. it will need the cat to get reg'd in France.

is it a LHD or RHD car?

it was new anth, that was worth a lot more than that, we get £40 as scrap for them so the guy you sold it to must have been rubbing his hands together
