Well,

After rebuilding the car, schoolboy error of not checking over the engine, i was having a blast down the Autobahn when within 5 seconds there was a loud whining noise, no loss of oil pressure or overheating and then a massive explosion and i'll let the pictures tell you the rest

I think the phrase is "Its Fooked" springs to mind, an expensive lesson to learn but shit happens, so i have have bought Andy Chan's/Little Ghost's forged engine from Bob at GTI-R US (Top service from Bob ) and have now got the car running again but will be ensuring the set up is spot on before going any further with the car.

So if you had checked it over, what would you have found wrong? Throwing 2 rods is pretty impressive.

That answers Andy's question then. - I think that was built by Agra wasn't it?

don't re-use standard rod bolt's.
The engine was working in my old car and as far as i know has never been stripped down before? so i just swapped it over complete during the the re-shell and didn't really check anything on it

Don't know why it happened, throwing 2 rods i can only think of is oil starvation at high speed? but it sure made a spectacular firework show in my rear view mirror at 160mph

one rod bolt snapped causing oil starvation to the 2nd, or the cylinders melted between 2 and 3 and it hydraulic locked........... nice to see it broken properley at 160mph...lol

HOw much power was it running pre DIY air-cooling?That will help answer a nother thread about what power the rods can take :p.

skid marks the rods will take over 500, the rod bolts are the weakness as standard just fit arp's and enjoy.

Sorry Bob should have put on the title it was the old engine

Took about 2 hrs of moving the bearing a mm at a time whilst keeping pressure on the fork was a ballache but better than having to drop the box.

A couple more pics of the engine head stripped.
