With turbo charging coming back in fashion is it now time to consider a modern engine swap for the R?

The nissan 1.6 seems to make good numbers and is probably lighter not sure if they do 4wd but a modern light weight engine might be a way forward?

I don't think any have been out long enough to find out the reliability or strength of them.
There are a few places getting 350 out of the nissan and other 1.6 turbos but you can easily get that on a gtir engine

Not sure if it would be much lighter as SR20 is already an alloy block with liners. I guess the fact its smaller will save some weight and they have probably shaved some Kg here and there.

Why would you want to fit an inferior engine to the one we already have?

The pulsars engine is it's strongest asset, But I'm not opposed to fitting better ignition and fuel injection to make it more fuel efficient we could all do with a few more MPG lol.

Just use all the modern technology on the Pulsar engine,,,best of both worlds.

Best bet in that case is probably something like SR20VET.
