Post Project value

As some of you will be aware I am currently on a mission to sort my R. When its done it will resprayed and engine rebuilt (not forged) with a fusion remap.

With prices possibly on a slight up curve what sort of value should I be looking at for a agreed value for insurance?

Thanks

Kev

For the sake of agreed valuation I would look at around £7000, to find a fully restored car or one in mint condition would cost at least that. I think given the age of the cars its time that there is some differentiation between those that are tidy serviceable daily runners and those that are truly mint.

Wouldn't a truly mint car be original mint not restored mint? welding and filtering etc.

no a mint car will still have rust on unless its lived in a car cacoon all its life, where as you would hope a restored mint car would of been done correctly so
be worth that extra for a rust free example.
i would say a proper restored car with good backup to show what was done would be worth £7k
or more, but less the more non standard mods that have been added.

don't forget classic Ferraris and the likes that get auctioned for mad money are normally restored to some degree so will depend on quality of work.

I have to very clean rolling shells to pick up that needs engines.
Was I put engines in them I bet I wouldn't get much more that 3k for them.
And my race car.... I bet I wouldn't get 1/4 of my money back on that. Not even going to post how much that's costing!

I wouldnt agree that all Pulsars have rust be it extensive or not, I would rather have as good example as possible rather than having known its had most replaced, even if it is a good job not all Rs have rotten arches. 7K is a strong price for a car without much following
Who knows hopefully they will get to that and I can rub my hands together but I cant see them going for that next year or whenever the project is finished?

Agreed value I would say £7k, good non rusty mint cars fetch good money. It's a 25year old classic rally car that won group N championships and does have a cult following these days.

Yeh cult not popular lol

Would probably sell the car if it got to those prices as parts would probably do the same and tbh the car would loose its appeal to me. Plus its harder to get any parts for them these days (look at the parts for sale its dead) and people say they will be making stuff but its like anything it takes years to develop or do anything.

This is the pretty much the dilemma I was in before starting the project. Pay big money for a fresh import the best I could find or go to town on mine. The difficulty lies in finding all the little bits that can turn into nasties further down the line.

That is true, as someone mentioned side skirts etc. and hidden defects are not always so apparent and you cant really pop over to Japan to check it before it comes over

We just have to realise that they won't be worth what we've spent, I lost at least 25k on my last one and I got back over 20k breaking it.

My new one has probably already cost me 20k and it's not finished yet, I kinda of wish I hadn't started it now but I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run, but it'll never be worth what I've spent that's for sure.

But I'll have the satisfaction of hopefully knowing I've got one of the best pulsars in the country once it's finished.

£7k is fair I'd say.

We in the uk need to get a grip and try and start pushing the prices up to match what they are in other countries...'chavs' and irresponsible tuners/traders had driven the prices down lower than they should be, where else can you find a car with similar specs for 'pulsar' money?

best way to look at it is what would you prefer a £7k ford fiesta or a £7k restored pulsar?

prices on these will rise as been mentioned before there 25 years old and people who always had a hankering for a gtir when they were younger and couldn't
afford one will pay good money for a standard car that dont have a front mounted intercooler and tuned to the tits.

I've seen same on two stroke motorbikes you could pick them up for nothing but now people are releasing they are not made any more and are only
going one way in price. Again a standard bike will outsell a modded bike every time for top money even to the point where people
strip the bike and put back to standard to sell.

Exactly why i've changed my mind and am going to make it as standard as possible exterior wise! Off with the front mount and cut bumper and back to top mount, standard complete bumper and a sensible ride height!! I actually think it looks smarter!! Even switched back to recerc valve today (anyone need a HKS BOV? Lol)
