conversion problems

ended up being my dizzy being plugged in where the gearbox plugs in[:I] well the correct plug only just reaches, and the wrong one seems to be about the right length. now i have a problem with my alternator not charging my battery. i only have the 2 thick wires connected, but there are more wires nearby that i taped up cause i didn't know where they went. there is a white one, and i think a yellow one, but i havent dug them out of the tape as i dont know where they go. the alternator warning doesnt come on to say the battery isnt charging either. i would just copy the gti wiring, but that has a different alternator with an extra plug on it(i think).

should be getting my exhaust sorted today, and bleed the brakes, and apart from the alternator fault, should be out in her later.

I don't seem to have a key to the wiring diagram, so the colours are a guess.
There's a wire B (Black?)from a terminal marked E to Earth.
There's 2 wires W and Y/R (White, Yellow and Red?) on the terminal marked S
The teminal marked B has either 1 or 2 wires W (white?) on it
