araldite!!!!!!!!!!!

EGT`s of greater than 500 deg c. It hasn`t got a chance!

It the cycles though of the material heating up / cooling down, that`ll help crack propegation no end, and the araldite will just fail.

I`d take it back and ask them why they used such an excellent choice of substance

Yep, its all experience and it wont happen again, i just thought seen as he's a turbo SPECIALIST (lol) he would be right! He bodged it with araldite to trick me as it looked like weld and basically because he knows that these cracks aren't my problem and if I thought it was welded it would stop me blaiming my lack of boost on the turbo! I'm pretty sure though that would just mean I would have never got to the bottom of my problem!
cheers MR QUINNY :)

can you get a pic of these cracks and post it up? my old turbo boosted to 1.3bar and over which had cracks in around the penny. it sitting in my garage and was changed as it started to chuff blue smoke as there is alot of play in it. im still wondering why it boosted over .7bar before it was taken off and not now.

I'll try get some pics up once I got it all sorted, I'm guessing the cracks may have developed even more when it was disturbed, thats the only reason I can think of! Just waiting for vss irvine to send me a paypal request so I can get the one of him that he has with no cracks in it :-D, hopefully back to big boost then!:thumbsup:

fit the housing and front mount, its now slightly better but still not right! it now boosts to 0.9 bar. . . . . still not enough and worse than it was in the first place . . . . . . . . . aarrgghhhh

Next thing i've to sort out is the knock sensor, would be good if when I change this, it fixes my problem. I can't see it fixing it but can't think of any other problem!

Have you done a fault code check on it mate? Does ti say the knock sensor has gone?
When my knock sensor went it didn't affect the boost at all, just seems more sluggish.
Have you pressurised the pipework to make sure there are no leaks anywhere?

Hopefully I've found my fault, after fitting the front mount and only boosting to 0.9 I pressurised the system again to find a small leak on one of the veins in a corner on the fmic. It couldn't be tig welded as it was a hairline crack but hopefully I'm going to be able to get it aluminium soldered and then, eventually, hopefully I will have lots of boost!:-D (won't know till monday though )
I also purchased a knock sensor from vss irvine (good lad that he is!) and when that arrives I will fit that too! Then get it set up on the rollers :thumbsup:
