Pull the shaft out and see if there is a ring clip on the end of the unit.

Remove it and put the shaft back in!

See if it holds in place?

I've done the same on my car, no idea why it won't accept the drive shaft without the ring clip?

It’s the offside so the ring stays inside the box. But I’m confident it’s in the right place, I can feel the ring engaging - and had a guy on FB send a pic of his to see if it was the same clearance

cheers

Yep, looks just like mine. I've done this quite a few times now. Correct, the clip is inside the box. Once you've lined it up correctly, just give an almighty shove, ideally a whack on the end with a bloody great hammer and a lump of wood to secure the deal. A quick tug after doing so should result in a very reluctant shaft coming out and you're done.
