So had the starter serviced and checked this morning.
Everything seems fine, nothing was damaged and since I cleaned it out, he could check all the connections etc.
It all looks good, nothing too worn and he activated the motor and it spun with no issues.
So need to double check the battery for voltage, even though it seems ok.
I think it could be a wiring issue now or an earthing problem.
Going to get out the Fluke multimeter tomorrow and start to fault check stuff, hopefully its an easy fix or a grounding issue.
I do worry about the electrical smoke that came off that area, so need to check that out too!

Also ordered some Millers "running in oil"
£27.00 for 5ltrs is a bargain.
I was worried about the additive package, but I spoke to their technical department and they sent me over their data sheets on the product itself and a full breakdown of what's inside.
They also sent me a data sheet on our GTiR and what oils they offer for all options, engine, diffs, gearboxes etc.
They recommended to run the car on the dyno to a max of about 4hrs, drive the car home and then change the oil again to run around on the street for another 300-500miles under load etc.
For less that £60, its a bit of a no brainier to order two bottles of the running in oil.
Then I can change to a fully syth and start to enjoy the car again!
Plus change all the diff and gearbox oils while I'm at it...
