Right, now that's out of the way...

Fuel pipes replaced with E10 versions.
(not that I'll run with E10, but it's repaired)

Intake manifold now back on the car.

Just waiting for the bolts and bits from Japan and then I can get on with drilling and installing the Helicoil kit

I removed more of the older studs and they dragged out more threads, so basically there all fucked!

Probably drill these out in a couple of weeks when I'm home.

Also, on my inspection of the engine back I've been meaning to ask this question, but kept forgetting.

Can anyone explain or identify what this unit is?
Seems to be plumbed into some vacuum pipes that go into the inlet manifold and into the cabin?

Possible boost pipes monitor?

If that thing goes into the cabin then maybe the boost sensor for the centre gauge?

So I've had a nerve-wracking weekend drilling into my head and installing the new helicoil kit.

After much sweating like I'm performing open heart surgery, they are in there!

I've noticed that two of the units didn't completely seat into the holes, probably because I didn't drill down far enough.

I did mount the manifold with the gasket etc and everything was flush, so should be ok :relaxed:

I also finally wrapped the manifold while it was off.
Hopefully it'll keep the temps down some what in the engine bay!

Also decided to replace the tatty and damaged Forge actuator for a new one, running a 1bar spring.

So will add that next weekend when I've got 4 days off to smash this out.

Get the turbo bolted back on, running etc, round for an MOT and then (he whispers) off for some mapping! :)

Also how easy it is to remove the fuel tank.

I noticed a few of the hoses are looking worse for ware and might need replacing some time soon!!!
