130 miles on motorway with RB box!

Rite guys im thinking of going to japshow final'e next sunday at santa pod. this is 130 miles from me so there & back will be 260 miles. around 150 on motorway driving! my query is that im running an RB box so im sat at arund 4000+ rpm at 60 -70 mph in 5th gear. how many miles to a tank do you think ill get & is being sat at 4000+ rpm for 150 miles healthy?? i may just be paranoid... :?

I've done about 260ish on one tank before - mostly motorway. If you keep off boost you won't use so much fuel.

There's a fuel station a few miles off the M1 when you come off for Santa Pod, so you can refuel without a problem.

i was hopeing id get near enough a full tank. just with being sat at 4000+ rpm for that length of time made me wonder!

I'd expect to use abit over a tank as on days like that there's alot of fast cars about and it's hard to resist the temptation sometimes, plus if you can stick to 60/70 I'll be impressed.;-)

lol yeh i know what your saying. but ive got a mongoose so it makes you think the engines reving harder than it is so it makes me stay at 60/70 for fuel consumption. but i garentee there'll be some 1 in a cossie or evo wanting a play. but theyll be disapointed as i dont speed on pubic roads... ;-)

Its not so much the rpm that uses loads of fuel, but being on boost-you could be at 4k rpm but only making 50bhp so its just sipping it compared to having your foot flat down.I generally sit on the motorway at 60-70mph and only see about 0.1bar or so positive boost on the hills.Its boring as shit but saves a lot of fuel.

how would u no if u have an RB box in ur car because any time ive been on the rollers speed wont go past 127 mph and i was told my car is an RB model can anyone tell me if its true

HOTSNOT /the car its self check the vin plate the number will tell you. what size wheels you running some people make the mistake of still having the speed limiter fitted. what revs you at and normally they use forth gear on the rollers?

The difference between them both are night and day, I'm sure if you have the close ratio box you will know.

just as the size changes the top end mph slightly.so is it in forth on dyno or have you tried it flat out (private road of course lol) S++t sorry for jumping on your thread gaz never thought

with the rb box you should be struggling to change up fast enough when giving it a boot full, and find 1st is a waist of time really

1st is a longer gear in the rb than the one in the ra box. I find the rb box better in slow moving traffic.

no worrys johny gtir lol. i was told i had a short ratio when it was on the rollers when Ed mapped it. so i presume its an RB box. @ HotSnot92 if you have an RB box youll notice you can climb steep hills quite easy at around 30 mph in 5th gear!

An RB box won't hit 60 in 2nd and it tops out at about 125give or take differing tyre diammeters.
1st is supposed to be longer than the RA 1st by a couple of mph, so it's not a waste of time. (Are people mixing the Nismo close ratio box with the RB?)
Even running 12.0s I can change gear easily fast enough and have a short wait for the next one.
